What Can You Learn in the Wind Energy Technology Diploma Program?
Our wind turbine technician training allows students to use specialized equipment, such as the 20-ton Eichoff gearbox (provided by Winergy, a subsidiary of Siemens), to practice doing borescope inspections, bolt fastening and gearbox troubleshooting. Most classes emphasize lab work and hands-on experience using the kinds of instrumentation and equipment they will use in the field.
Upon successful completion of Ecotech Institute’s Wind Energy Technology diploma program, graduates should be able to evaluate new turbines and their readiness for operation and resolve early electrical and mechanical faults and troubleshoot complicated mechanical and electrical problems on variable pitch, variable speed turbines.
Additionally, our wind turbine technology training prepares them to perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions and perform diagnostic electrical analysis. Since safety is the first priority on a wind tower, Ecotech Institute also provides extensive training in its wind safety tower lab. Students will take a combination of lab and lecture classes to help train for the real world.

Wind Energy Technology Diploma - Wind Farm Manager Specialization
This specialization provides an introduction to managing the entire wind farm including power distribution and smart grid technology. Our training prepares students to pursue entry-level employment in as little as 12 months as wind energy technicians possibly managing electrical distribution systems for the entire wind farm.
