Wind Energy Technology Diploma
Renewable Energy Training Diploma Program – Prepare For A Wind Energy Career In As Little As Nine Months
Prepare to be blown away by a career field that’s experiencing significant growth.* Wind energy is part of the growing renewable energy sector, which is dedicated to powering the world in a sustainable way. Wind Energy Technology graduates have opportunities to work in a variety of settings all over the world using energy production technology. After training in our modern, well-equipped campus laboratories, your career could rise to new heights after graduating with a diploma in Wind Energy Technology.
What Can You Learn in the Wind Energy Technology Diploma Program?
Our wind turbine technician training allows students to use specialized equipment, such as the 20-ton Eichoff gearbox (provided by Winergy, a subsidiary of Siemens), to practice doing borescope inspections, bolt fastening and gearbox troubleshooting. Most classes emphasize lab work and hands-on experience using the kinds of instrumentation and equipment they will use in the field.
Upon successful completion of Ecotech Institute’s Wind Energy Technology diploma program, graduates should be able to evaluate new turbines and their readiness for operation and resolve early electrical and mechanical faults and troubleshoot complicated mechanical and electrical problems on variable pitch, variable speed turbines.
Additionally, our wind turbine technology training prepares them to perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions and perform diagnostic electrical analysis. Since safety is the first priority on a wind tower, Ecotech Institute also provides extensive training in its wind safety tower lab. Students will take a combination of lab and lecture classes to help train for the real world.

Wind Energy Technology Diploma - Advanced Technician Specialization
The Advanced Technician Specialization training could help advance your career in wind in as little as 12 months by training you to work with advanced systems including hydraulics and programmable logical controllers.
Additional coursework includes:
Wind Energy Technology Diploma - Wind Farm Manager Specialization
This specialization provides an introduction to managing the entire wind farm including power distribution and smart grid technology. Our training prepares students to pursue entry-level employment in as little as 12 months as wind energy technicians possibly managing electrical distribution systems for the entire wind farm.
Additional coursework includes:
I will be celebrating my first promotion just five months after graduation. I have been traveling to various wind farms in Texas for training and I am now training other wind techs with my knowledge.
Wind Energy Career Opportunities
Graduates of our Wind Energy Technology training program should be prepared to pursue entry-level employment as wind energy technicians, with demonstrated skills in operating, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing wind turbine equipment.
Since 2003, the global market for wind power has had a nearly tenfold increase — from $7.5 billion to over $73 billion. By 2022, wind power installations should grow to $124.7 billion, more than doubling the number of skilled workers from current estimates. Companies are now competing for experienced wind technicians, which means there are great opportunities for trained workers.
Many wind technicians work on wind farms, which are frequently located in the Midwest, Southwest, and Northeast regions of the United States. Texas, Iowa and California are the leading states in wind power generating capacity, but many other states — including Illinois, Indiana, Oregon and Washington — are in the process of substantially increasing their wind-generating capacity.
Ecotech Institute’s Wind Energy Technology diploma program prepares students for careers in wind power generation and transmission while equipping them with a foundation in the broader field of renewable energy.
