Ecotech Institute's Clean Jobs Index confirms the number of renewable energy jobs in the United States increased 16 percent in Q2 2015 over Q2 2014, bringing the total to more than 1.47 million jobs. That's more than four times the number of computer programmers employed today!
Here are the two biggest takeaways from the Q2 2015 Clean Jobs Index:
States are hearing the cry for cleaner, greener and less expensive energy options – and they're putting knowledgeable professionals to work.
Washington recorded an amazing 117 percent growth in clean job openings compared to Q2 2014! Other states that saw a significant increase in renewable energy career opportunities included Arizona (62 percent increase), Oregon (54 percent increase), Alabama (53 percent increase) and New York (45 percent increase).
Q3 2015 is going to be just as awesome.
Job growth in July 2015 exploded (fitting, for the month of firework shows), with a 104 percent increase in renewable energy job openings! Big win for Team Green – onward and upward.
