Ecotech Institute's Clean Jobs Index reports that 489,542 clean jobs, including jobs in renewable energy, were open in August 2014 — a 57% increase from the same month in 2014. If every clean job were a mile, that would take you to the moon and back!
Here are the two biggest takeaways from the August 2015 Clean Jobs Index:
Six states saw at least a 92% increase in clean job openings from August 2014 to August 2015.
Oregon saw the greatest increase with more than 300% growth in clean job openings. Clean jobs in South Dakota increased more than 137%. Other states with over 92% increase in clean job openings from August 2014 to August 2015 include Utah, Virginia, Florida and New Jersey.
More states are following suit.
Clean job growth in a total of 22 states, including the six mentioned above, exceeded 50% from August 2014 to August 2015.
