Ecotech Institute held its second–ever graduation yesterday (Monday, September 24, 2012) in Aurora, Col. Forty–four graduates, including six military veterans, crossed the stage receiving associate's degrees in Wind Energy Technology, Solar Energy Technology, Renewable Energy Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology.
"We take pride in our visionary students, the people who believed in Ecotech before we had elaborate lab equipment and a LEED–certified campus," said Mike Seifert, president of Ecotech Institute. "These students shared our vision and will soon receive their diploma, arming them for success in the vast world of green jobs."
Ecotech hosted its first graduation on June 20, 2012 and approximately 90 percent of graduates are now working in cleantech positions around the country, including Hawaii.
In related news, a major clean energy employer weighed in on Ecotech Institute graduates, saying in the media recently, "Ecotech is producing well–prepared graduates that are highly sought in industries such as ours." Read the article in Wind Systems magazine.
Finally, Ecotech Institute has announced a new relationship with Colorado–based Veterans Green Jobs, whose mission is to engage, transition and connect military veterans with meaningful employment opportunities. About 15 percent of Ecotech Institute's current student population is made up of military veterans.
Together, Ecotech and Veterans Green Jobs will focus on encouraging and enhancing opportunities for military veterans by promoting career opportunities in the green jobs sector, both in Colorado and nationally.
